Make your bed

What daily habit do you do that improves your quality of life?

The first thing I do when I wake up is make my bed. It prevents me from staying on the phone and mindlessly scrolling. It also prepares me for the next task of the day, washing my face and then going through my emails and task planners.

Why ladies get sugar cravings during that time of the month

What was the last thing you searched for online? Why were you looking for it?

I was genuinely curious, and I was glad there was a blogger who could answer the question πŸ˜….

I was craving chocolate muffins, caramel popcorn, cherry juice, and every sweet thing I could think of. It is very unlike me because lately, I have been health cautious, but somehow, once a month, my sugar craving skyrockets, and eating cantaloupes wouldn’t help.

I learned it was because of our hormones; our bodies are trying to increase serotonin levels. During that time of the month, our serotonin levels are low, so having sugar would help us. The low serotonin explains the bursts of tears and why we get mad at the boys 🌝 and everyone in between.

I also noticed there is an answer for every question thanks to bloggers. I am so glad I am a blogger. I have written 100 blog posts on my blog page, omg. I feel like crying because I started MABS when I was at a really low place, and I am so happy I kept writing. Thank you, Jesus. I am hopeful for the best.Β

Ladies, every time you crave a chocolate bar or something sweet on your period, I think you should go for it. You deserve a little extra serotonin.

Bed Time

What’s your favorite time of day?

Bed time is my fav time of the day. I love that I can just slide into my bed after a being up and working for a while. I cherish this time so much, I have an ideal routine.Β

  • Shower
  • Wash my face
  • Drink water
  • Moisturise my face and lips
  • Wear clean clothes

Check out our blog posts about sleep to learn more about making the most of your bed time.

Jollof Rice

What’s your favorite recipe?

Free Rice with Fish and Vegetables on a Serving Dish Stock Photo

Not much food can beat the Nigerian Jollof rice. I love my jollof smoky with dodo (Plantains), coleslaw, pear juice and a chunky piece of fried beef.Β

Ingredients:

  • Love
  • Tomatoes
  • Spices
  • Beef
  • Rice

I am not gonna give you the full recipe here, will need to take time to map out the flavours on paper but the goals here is to :

  • Make tomatoes red as possible
  • Let the spices be the star of the party
  • Sneak in as much beef flavour as possible
  • Rice should be soft and each bite should bring a new smile to your man’s face

Where did I learn my jollof recipe from? Hehehehe, I laugh in Rema. Every Nigerian woman has a secret to her jollof.

Shopping

Tell us about the last thing you got excited about.

It has been a while since I got excited about something. However, I am always excited when it’s time to go to the mall to shop for new clothes and makeup.

The last time I went shopping, I bought the most beautiful dress and a cute jumpsuit. I’ve been rocking them throughout the summer. School is about to start, and it’s time to go shopping for jeans and jackets.

One of the best parts about shopping is the food. I wonder if I am the only one who loves eating after shopping. I usually don’t go shopping alone. I go with my friends, we can share a pizza or get some wings and drinks.

The worst part about shopping is struggling to find the perfect size and seeing that you do not fit into the clothes you like. It is so heartbreaking, but I always manage to squeeze in or find something that works.

Oh, and then there are the people who don’t want to buy anything but are just there to see the things they like or to people-watch. Yup, people-watching is a thing; I do it, too. I like seeing what other girls are wearing so I can get outfit inspiration.

I love shopping, to bad I can’t always go shopping. But when I do, I am super stoked.

The Perfect City

How would you design the city of the future?

I will love the future city to have:

  1. More trees and fruits tress for each season
  2. More roads and Routes
  3. Tall buildings
  4. Clean water
  5. Access to warm water and heater in each building for free
  6. Emergency centres on every street
  7. Free schools and libraries
  8. Walkable streets
  9. Parks and playgrounds
  10. Underground parking lots
  11. Solar systems powering homes
  12. Waste turned to energy
  13. Festivals and concerts
  14. Free wifi
  15. Free healthcare
  16. InsuranceΒ
  17. Female only gyms

Can’t think of anymore right now πŸ˜…, what should I add to the list?

Love

Where did your name come from?

My name is real name is Jametta, although most people know me as Madame Ann πŸ˜…, which is what MABS means Madame Ann’s Beauty Shop πŸ˜„

Anywho, when I asked my parents what Jametta meant, they said it was a combination of their names: James + Esther = Jamesther.

They were not thrilled with the name Jamesther for their baby girl, so they shortened it to Jametta.

I have not met another person named Jametta 🀭, but when I do, I will hug her because Jametta is not a common name.

I love my name, though it is a story of love and sheer creativity. Thinking about it, I have all the qualities of my parents: my mom’s brilliance and loyalty and my father’s giving heart and courage.

If my kids asked me what Jametta means, I would tell them it means someone brilliant, loyal, giving, and courageous.

My middle name is Anietie, and it means Who’s like God? I am from Akwa Ibom, Nigeria. I am a testimony to the name Anietie because I have come to understand that there is no one like God.
