Plans May Change, But God Doesn’t: A Journey of Faith and Surrender

Plans may change, but God doesn't change

This year, I had my heart set on writing an exam. I poured myself into studying — subscribed to a Qbank, got into “beast mode,” and for the first time, I truly started believing I could pass. The progress was real, and so was my faith in the journey.

Then came news that shattered me. It was the kind of blow that, in the past, would’ve knocked me out for a month — sending me spiraling into unhealthy coping: overeating, harsh self-talk, and self-sabotage that felt impossible to stop.

But this time was different.

The crash only lasted two weeks. And those two weeks were full of prayer, quiet reflection, and clinging to the Word of God.

I noticed something else, too: I started shrinking my dreams — not because they were impossible, but because I felt hurt and disappointed. I began aiming lower, convincing myself that I had to settle for less.

But the Holy Spirit wouldn’t let me stay there. I was reminded that my value doesn’t decrease because my circumstances changed. God’s promises over my life still stand.

Yes, I’ve felt jealousy — seeing others with easier paths, stronger passports, or stable incomes. But God has been tenderly reminding me:
I am not less. I am not behind. I am not forgotten.

Now, July has become a symbol of pivot, not pause. A shift in strategy, not in purpose. It’s a new plan — not worse, just different — and it still leads to the same goal. Maybe it’ll take more work, maybe more faith. But I know the One who gives strength.

How to Maintain Faith in God (especially when life feels uncertain)

1. Stay in the Word, even when it’s hard

The Bible isn’t just for encouragement on good days — it’s a foundation for the difficult ones. God’s promises provide clarity and peace when everything else feels unstable. Even reading one verse a day can help you reset your thoughts and shift your focus back to truth.

Start with the Psalms. They’re full of raw honesty, reminding you that it’s okay to feel hurt while still holding onto hope.

You can buy a physical bible here. I earn a small commission if you purchase the Bible through this link, but it won’t cost you anything extra.

2. Journal your prayers and reflections

Writing out your thoughts, prayers, and even doubts is a powerful way to process your emotions. Over time, you’ll begin to see patterns of growth and answered prayers.

A simple prompt: “Lord, today I feel ____, but I choose to trust You because ____.”

3. Be honest with God

God doesn’t need rehearsed or perfect prayers. He wants your real heart. You can tell Him when you’re tired, confused, disappointed, or even angry. He’s not distant or offended by your emotions. He is near and listening.

4. Reflect on past faithfulness

Think back to what God has already brought you through — the doors that closed for a reason, the comfort that came unexpectedly, the strength you didn’t know you had. These memories are reminders that His faithfulness didn’t end with yesterday.

5. Create a consistent rhythm with God

It doesn’t have to be complicated. Whether it’s a few minutes in the morning, quiet time before bed, or listening to worship music while you work — building small habits of connection with God helps keep your trust rooted, even when life feels unpredictable.

6. Surround yourself with faith-filled people

Who you talk to can either build your faith or break it down. Make space for conversations with people who speak truth, offer perspective, and pray with you. A supportive faith community can make all the difference when your personal trust feels weak.

7. Let go of the need to control everything

Sometimes, trusting God means releasing your tight grip on the outcome. It’s not always easy to surrender, but real faith often shows up in the quiet decision to believe that God still knows what’s best — even when you don’t have all the answers.

Trusting God doesn’t mean the fear disappears. It means you choose to move forward anyway, believing He will meet you in every step. If you’ve had to adjust your goals, change your timeline, or grieve a detour — I see you. You’re not weak for rerouting. Keep showing up. Keep believing. God’s not done writing your story.

Not Having Enough Time

What do you complain about the most?

I always find myself complaining about not having enough time. As a medical student, my days are packed with classes, long study sessions, and managing my side hustle—blogging. On top of that, I’m a young woman who loves going out with friends, keeping up with social media trends, hitting the gym, nurturing my faith, and maintaining a healthy diet—all within just 24 hours. It feels overwhelming.

I used to believe I didn’t have enough time—until I realized how carelessly I was spending it. I was losing three hours a day scrolling through Instagram and TikTok, constantly rushing to meet deadlines, and oversleeping more than I should. Even getting a full 7-8 hours made me feel guilty, and on days when I slept for 12 hours, I was absolutely frustrated with myself. I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who’s been there.

That was the case until I learned a few tricks. I highly recommend using Screen Zen on your phone—it helps limit screen time and blocks distracting sites, making it a total game-changer for productivity.

Another thing that has helped me tremendously is surrounding myself with like-minded, goal-oriented friends. My friend will literally call me if she notices I’m oversleeping, and I’ll remind her of upcoming deadlines. It’s all about keeping each other accountable!

What To Do When You Have Troubles With Time

  1. Stay off your phone
  2. Have a to do list
  3. Do the hardest task first
  4. Rest, don’t compromise on sleep
  5. Have friends because sometimes group work get things done faster
  6. Pray about time management

Here are 20 More Tips to Help with Time Management

1. Set clear priorities

2. Use a planner or digital calendar

3. Create a daily to-do list

4. Set time limits for tasks

5. Use the 45/15 technique

6. Eliminate distractions

7. Batch similar tasks together

8. Plan your day the night before

9. Wake up early

10. Set specific goals with deadlines

11. Learn to say no

12. Delegate tasks when possible

13. Track your time usage

14. Avoid multitasking

15. Schedule breaks

16. Automate repetitive tasks

17. Use productivity apps

18. Establish a consistent routine

19. Limit time on social media

20. Reflect and adjust your schedule regularly

How To Bounce Back From a Bad Day

How To Bounce Back From a Bad Day

We’ve all been there—those days when things don’t go our way. You got another disappointing email, missed an important deadline, or got into a fight. By the end of the day, you’re left feeling drained, frustrated, and stuck with negative thoughts.

Everyone has a bad day. While you can’t always control what happens, you can control how you respond. With a few simple steps, you can turn things around and give yourself the care and space you need to feel better.

In this blog, we’ll explore practical and easy ways to lift your mood, reset your mindset, and reclaim your peace after a tough day.

1. Acknowledge and Validate Your Feelings

The first step to feeling better after a rough day is recognizing and accepting your feelings. It’s OK to be upset, angry, sad, or frustrated—whatever emotions are bubbling up, they’re valid. Too often, we try to brush off our feelings or push them aside, thinking they’ll disappear. But ignoring your emotions doesn’t make them disappear; it leaves them unresolved.

Take a moment to pause and check in with yourself. Ask, “What am I feeling right now?” and “Why do I feel this way?”

Remember, feeling bad doesn’t make you weak—it makes you human. Emotions are part of life, and allowing yourself to process them is a form of self-respect. So, take a deep breath, let those emotions rise to the surface, and remind yourself that it’s OK not to be OK sometimes.

2. Engage in Something That Brings You Joy

When you’re feeling down, one of the quickest ways to shift your mood is to do something that genuinely brings you joy.

It doesn’t have to be big or elaborate—sometimes, minor things can make the most significant difference. Think about activities that naturally make you feel happier, calmer, or more at peace. Maybe it’s listening to your favorite playlist, dancing around your room, watching a funny TV show, or diving into a good book. If you love being creative, try drawing, writing, or crafting. If food is your comfort, make a warm cup of tea, bake something simple, or indulge in your favorite snack.

The key here is to focus on the present moment and allow yourself to fully enjoy the activity without judgment or guilt.

3. Move Your Body

Physical movement can do wonders for your mental and emotional state. When you’re having a rough day, getting up and moving around might be the last thing you feel like doing—but it’s often one of the most effective ways to feel better. Exercise releases endorphins, natural mood boosters, and helps reduce stress levels.

You don’t have to commit to a complete workout. Start small: walk around the block, stretch out your body with light yoga, or even have a mini dance party in your living room. If you’re up to it, a jog or a quick workout session can help channel your frustration or sadness into something productive.  I use this strategy often, I go to the gym to let off steam.

4. Practice Gratitude

When the day feels overwhelmingly bad, shifting your focus to what’s good in your life can provide a much-needed perspective. Gratitude has a way of grounding you and reminding you that not everything is as bleak as it seems.

Take a moment to list three things you’re grateful for, no matter how small they may seem. It could be the warmth of your morning coffee, a kind message from a friend, a new subscriber, or even the fact that you made it through the day and submitted that job application.

Writing them down in a journal or simply saying them out loud can amplify their impact.

5. Journal

Write down your thoughts and feelings. Journaling can be incredibly therapeutic. It allows you to process your emotions without judgment and gain a clearer perspective.

6. Identify One Good Thing

Even on the worst days, there’s usually something positive to be found. Did you have an excellent conversation? Did you accomplish a small task you were proud of? Focusing on that one good thing can help you end the day more positively.

7. Shift Your Focus

Focus on plans, exciting goals, or something you’re looking forward to. This can help you shift your focus away from the negativity and towards a brighter future.

8. Engage in Self-Care

Self-care is crucial during tough times. Take a warm bath, listen to your favorite music, read a good book, or spend time in nature. These activities can help soothe your mind and body.

9. Rest and Recharge

Rest is essential for both physical and mental well-being. After a tough day, make sure to get enough sleep. Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep to allow your body and mind to reset.

10. End with Encouragement

Remember, bad days don’t last forever. You have the power to turn things around with small actions. Be patient with yourself, and remember that tomorrow is a fresh start.

Conclusion

Apply for another job, learn a new skill, and remember to smile. You have got this!

Enough Room To Grow

What do you love about where you live?

I love easy access to Wi-Fi, constant electricity, and clean water. These are basic things, but where I come from, they’re considered luxury. I am grateful for where I am and always hopeful.

In some way, being here has brought me closer to God, and that’s what really matters.

I created a new coloring book. It’s called knowing God. I had the idea of relating animals to a truth found in the bible. Every animal offers a glimpse into the spiritual truths that shape our understanding of the Creator.

The coloring book is perfect for all ages, it is not just an artistic activity but a spiritual journey. It invites you to reflect, meditate, and grow closer to God through the wonder of His creation.

I think it is pretty cool, here is a free coloring page.  And if you would love the entire coloring book, totally click here.

Teaching

What profession do you admire most and why?

I admire teachers because they have taught me everything I know.

My biggest teachers:

  • My Bible
  • My parents
  • Apostle Joshua Selman
  • My lecturers ( My Gynecology Rotation lecturer, Dr Nino)
  • My mistakes
  • Mistakes of others
  • YouTube
  • ChatGpT
  • TikTok
  • Canva
  • Other Bloggers

Let me tell you a story 😄

I work as a VA on the side, I met Lani on Upwork. She was my first employer 🙈

I can never forget her, she taught me literally the basics of blogging. She even gifted me a year’s Grammarly subscription. God bless her 💕

Since this post is about teachers, I remembered Lani again. 😅

Working with her helped me buy my iPad 😌

Oh ya, I created a coloring book too.

Every time I see my iPad, I remember her and how her kindness gave me strength when I needed it the most

Who is your biggest teacher? 👀

15 Things I Wish I Knew Earlier

We cannot turn back the hands of time, but at least we can learn from our mistakes and try to make the future better. I am 26 now, and I have no regrets, but there are some things I wish I had known sooner so the ride could have been a little bit smoother.

This article will discuss the 15 most important things I wish I had known sooner. These lessons have shaped my perspective, influenced my decisions, and ultimately led to personal growth and fulfilment.

1. Put God First

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is the importance of putting God first in all aspects of life.

When I was younger, I used to run around thinking I could do everything with my willpower and stubbornness, it took me 5 years to calm down and go back to the basics of what my parents taught me: God.

Your faith provides strength, guidance, and peace to help you through the most challenging times. When you prioritize your spiritual life, it creates a sense of purpose and direction that grounds you, no matter your obstacles.

Growing up, I often heard the phrase, “Put God first,” but it wasn’t until I experienced life’s ups and downs that I truly understood its significance.

Simple practices like prayer, meditation, or reading your Bible can make a significant difference. Going to church and watching a faith niche YouTube channel can also help deepen your spiritual connection. I follow Koinonia Global on YouTube, check it out.

2. The Road to Success is Paved in Failure

I used to think success was all about winning and being the best. But over time, I realized that success often comes from failing and learning from those failures. It’s not about never making mistakes but about how you handle them and what you know.

When you fail, it’s important not to give up. Instead, use it as a chance to learn and grow. Ask yourself, “What can I do differently next time?” and “How can I improve?”

3. 90% of Talking is Listening

When we talk, we often focus on what we want to say. But did you know that listening is even more important? Most of a good conversation is actually about listening. Listening to someone shows that you care about them and what they have to say.

Listening is about more than just hearing words. It’s about understanding the feelings and thoughts behind those words. Ask questions and show genuine interest in the other person. Don’t solve their problems immediately—sometimes, people want to be heard.

Being a good listener helps you connect with others on a deeper level. It builds trust and makes people feel valued. So, next time you’re conversing, remember that 90% of talking is listening. Be humble, let others speak, and listen with your heart.

We have a listening service, where we listen to people who need someone to talk to and pray with. Click here if you want to know more about our listening services.

4. Don’t Lose Your Inner Child to This Wicked World

Your inner child loves to explore, imagine, and have fun. This part of you can help you see the world differently and find joy in small things. Don’t let the stresses of life make you forget how to play and dream.

Take time to do things you enjoyed as a kid, whether it’s coloring, drawing, or playing games. These activities can bring back a sense of wonder and excitement.

5. Get Up Every Day and Keep Pushing

Life can be challenging, and it’s easy to feel discouraged when things are unplanned. But one of the most important things I’ve learned is to keep getting up and pushing forward, no matter how hard it gets.

Success doesn’t come overnight. It requires hard work, dedication, and the willingness to keep trying, even when you face setbacks.

6. Your Grades Matter Less Than You Think

Many of us grow up believing that grades are the most important thing in life. While doing well in school is valuable, it’s not the only thing that matters. Your grades don’t define your worth or your future success.

What counts is your skills, passion, and drive.

Instead of focusing only on grades, learn and grow from your experiences. Work on developing skills that interest you, and get involved in activities you love.

7. An Awareness of Others is an Awareness of Yourself

When you pay attention to how others feel and think, you can discover more about your feelings and beliefs.

For example, if you notice that you get upset when others are rude, it might help you understand what you value in kindness and respect. By being aware of others, you also become more aware of how you react and why.

This awareness can make you a better friend, family member, student, or worker. It helps you connect with people deeper and improves your relationships.

By noticing how others feel and think, I realized the value of standing up for yourself and others.

8. You Have All the Time in the World and No Time at All

Time can feel like it’s moving too fast and too slow simultaneously. On one hand, you might feel like there’s always more time to do things later. On the other hand, moments can slip away quickly, and it’s easy to feel rushed.

It’s essential to find a balance. Use your time wisely by focusing on what matters to you. Set goals and work on them each day, but also remember to enjoy the present and cherish the moments you have now.

9. Everything Happens for a Reason

Life is full of surprises, both good and bad. Sometimes, it’s hard to see why things happen the way they do. But believing everything happens for a reason can help you find meaning in challenging situations.

When things don’t go as planned, try to look for the lesson or opportunity they might bring. Maybe a setback is leading you to a new path or helping you grow in unexpected ways.

10. Keep a Journal or a Diary

Writing down your thoughts and experiences can be a powerful tool for self-reflection and growth. Keeping a journal or diary helps you organize your ideas, track progress, and understand your feelings better.

When you write regularly, you give yourself a space to explore your thoughts and emotions. It can be a way to relieve stress, set goals, and celebrate your successes. Looking back at old entries can show how much you’ve grown and your perspective has changed.

Start by writing a few sentences each day or whenever you like it. You don’t need to be perfect—just be honest and open with yourself.

11. Be Kinder to Yourself

I woke up late this morning. I would typically be so mad at myself, but today, I decided to say nice things to myself.

It’s easy to be hard on yourself, especially when you compare yourself to others. But being kind to yourself is just as important as being kind to others.

Instead of focusing on what you think you lack, compare yourself to who you were yesterday.

12. Making Mistakes is Better Than Faking Perfection

Nobody is perfect, and trying to be perfect can hold you back. It’s okay to make mistakes because they are a part of learning and growing. Embracing your mistakes rather than trying to hide them can lead to real improvement and personal development.

When you make a mistake, see it as an opportunity to learn. Ask yourself what went wrong and how you can do better next time.

Trying to appear perfect can be exhausting and stressful. It’s more important to be authentic and genuine, even if that means showing your imperfections.

13. You Must Like Yourself, For Everybody Else, It’s Optional

At the end of the day, the most important relationship you have is with yourself. It’s crucial to like and accept who you are because that’s where true confidence comes from. When you’re comfortable with yourself, you’re less concerned about what others think and more focused on being your best self.

You don’t need everyone’s approval to be happy or prosperous. What matters most is how you feel about yourself. Embrace your strengths and work on your weaknesses, but don’t let anyone’s opinion define your self-worth.

14. When You Stand Up to People, You Gain Respect

Standing up for yourself and setting boundaries can be tough, but it’s important to earn respect. People are more likely to respect you when you speak up for your beliefs and don’t let others push you around.

Being assertive doesn’t mean being rude or aggressive. It means expressing your thoughts and needs clearly and respectfully. It’s about showing that you value yourself and expect others to do the same.

15. Invest in Yourself, Never Stop Learning

One of the best things you can do for your future is to keep learning and growing.

Investing in yourself means dedicating time and effort to develop your skills, knowledge, and talents. This doesn’t just mean formal education—it includes picking up new hobbies, reading, attending workshops, and anything else that helps you grow.

The more you learn, the more value you bring to yourself and others. It’s not just about getting paid for your time but for the skills and knowledge you offer. By continually improving yourself, you make yourself more valuable in every area of your life, from your career to your relationships.

Conclusion

Life is a journey filled with lessons; sometimes, the hardest truths are those we learn through experience.

So my advice for younger me…

  • The key is to put God first
  • Embrace failures as steps toward success
  • Truly listen to others
  • Keep your inner child alive
  • Push forward every day
  • Understand that grades aren’t everything
  • Recognize the importance of self-awareness
  • Make the most of your time
  • Trust that everything happens for a reason
  • Keep a journal to reflect on your journey
  • Be kind to yourself
  • Embrace your imperfections
  • Stand up for yourself
  • Invest in your growth, knowing that the most valuable asset is your continued learning

As you move forward, carry these lessons with you. They can help you build a fulfilling, meaningful life.

We fight to win

this is an image of me

It is when you are comfortable enough to let your partner see you vulnerable, you know he is the one. Today has been an eventful day, one of my role models opened a wig store today in port Harcourt, Nigeria. I am so proud of her, she inspired me to become an industrious and independent woman. ” I will never go hungry, no matter what country I reside because I have my hands.” Having a modern skill helps a lot financially and trust me it boosts your confidence as a lady. You won’t be depending on anybody to feed and style you. You become proud of yourself knowing that you have money in your purse and you worked for it.

Life is a battle ground, your skill is your weapon and education your shield.

Congrats to Doctor Uche on finishing NYSC. You are built to win and progress into happiness and success.

Doctor Uche is one of my happy and returning clients. He too has taught me the concept of trying and having success at the back of my mind.

I am guilty of failing to do what I must because of fear of disappointments. Trust me, this does not help because in the end, I fail myself. Don’t do it. Next time before you doubt the outcome of doing what you have to do before actually doing it, actually do what you need to do before you doubt the outcome. Most importantly, Always and I mean always expect positive outcomes.

I have more of what it takes to achieve my dreams. Dear God, give me the grace and will to achieve my dreams. Amen
